In Bloomberg’s recent Opinion’s piece, Isabelle Lee discusses Bitcoin’s recent record breaking rally. Ian Harnett, ASR’s Co-founder and Chief Investment Strategist, shares his insight on the topic.
The chart below by Ian Harnett of Absolute Strategy Research shows an extremely high correlation between liquidity in US markets and Bitcoin.
“It’s just a beta play on liquidity,” he said. “Nothing more, nothing less.” If there’s more money around, more of it will find its way into crypto. He even joked that if Fed Chair Jerome Powellthinks that policy can be eased, then watching Bitcoin “go on a rip like this should make him think twice — or three times!”
