David Bowers
Co-founder and Chairman
David is responsible for ASR’s quarterly Asset Allocation Survey, a widely followed benchmark of institutional investor sentiment and financial-market expectations. Prior to ASR, David spent eleven years at Merrill Lynch, serving as Chief Global Investment Strategist and spending three years in New York, having previously been ranked the #1 Pan-European Equity Analyst. Before joining Merrill Lynch, he was Chief European Equity Strategist at Smith New Court. David has consistently been recognised for his market insight and analytical expertise and was ranked the #1 Independent Research Analyst by Extel/II in both 2024 and 2025.

Ian Harnett
Chief Investment Advisor
Ian has more than 40 years of experience in economics and investment strategy. Prior to ASR, he was Chief European Investment Strategist at UBS, where he achieved the top Extel ranking for European Strategy. He also led European Strategy at NatWest Markets and served as Group Chief Economist at Société Générale London. Ian began his career as an economist at the Bank of England and holds a Doctorate in Economics from Oxford University. He is a regular contributor to Bloomberg and CNBC, a frequent author of Financial Times Insight columns, and a sought-after speaker at major industry conferences and investor events worldwide. Ian was ranked the #1 Independent Research Analyst by Extel/II in 2023.
